The Physical Education programs provide course work and related activities leading to competencies in the area of Physical Education. The courses embrace sufficient scope in content and variety in activities to fully equip a prospective graduate with adequate educational orientation and activity skills to meet the demands of the teaching profession. Practicum experiences with public school students, internships, and directed teaching are integral parts of the four year curriculum.
The department offers graduate and undergraduate level courses in physical education leading to certification by the state. The non-teaching degree program in physical education prepares the student to plan and manage programs similar to those in wellness centers, YMCA's and community centers. A minor in another discipline is required when electing the non-teaching physical education program.

Students completing the Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education are eligible for the State of Alabama Class "B" Teacher Certificate.
