Mr. Joe Washington holds a B.A. in Art from Indiana University, Blooming ton and a MFA Degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is currently serving his twelfth year on the Art Faculty at AAMU after serving as Exhibition Designer for the Huntsville Museum of Art for thirteen years. He teaches several courses at various levels at AAMU including Sculpture, Three Dimensional Design, African American Art History, Jewelry (Metals), and Art Appreciation.
Mr. Washington has been appointed to the Huntsville Museum of Art Col-lections and Acquisitions Committee and is a charter member of the State Black Archives Advisory Board. He has recently assumed the role of Gallery Director for our department. He also serves with the Huntsville Museum of Art as a member of their Collections and Acquisitions Committee and as a Volunteer in the Curatorial Department and has worked in support of AAMU colleagues on various initiatives including the recent Alabama Clay Conference. He has exhibited his sculpture regionally and nationally.
