Mission
The Office of the Student Academic Ombudsman provides all undergraduate students with an impartial, independent, confidential, safe and informal dispute management and resolution environment to address questions and concerns about University policies and procedures. The Ombudsman will advocate for fairness and promote a positive campus climate and community.
History of the Office
In September 2012, the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr.
Daniel Wims, created the Ombudsman’s office to serve as a
resource for assisting undergraduate students and faculty work through and
resolve academic-related issues and conflicts. He appointed Dr. Leatha M.
Bennett to serve in this position. The Office is
an alternate resource for all undergraduates to complement other existing
channels of communication. The Office operates in accordance with the International Ombudsman Association (IOA) Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
