Dear Prospective Participant,
Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, in conjunction with the National Science Foundation, is pleased to announce that AAMU HBCU-UP Summer Bridge Program (SBP) is accepting applications.
The SBP program focuses on strengthening participants' STEM related academic skills. As a participant, you will attend four-1 hour courses during the six week program. Classes will include: "Critical Writing and Reading," "Mathematics," "Science & Engineering Fundamentals,” and “Introduction to Computer Programming and Visualization,” and along with some exposure to Physics and Biotechnology.
To apply, you must:
Be an incoming Junior or Senior for 2011 (May 2011 graduates will not be accepted.)
Have a 3.0 or better GPA
Have interest in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) career after college

Submit two letters of recommendation from your science or math teacher and/or counselor
Submit official copy of academic transcripts
Applications are due by April 15th, 2011.
If you are one of the 30 students selected to participate, you are expected to attend every class during the six-week program. The program will begin on June 13, 2011, and end on July 22, 2011. Classes will meet Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Each participant will be paid $200 per week, for a total of $1200 upon completion of the six week program.
