AAMU Brings Another Classic to Birmingham

Birmingham has never had it so good.  Not only is the Magic City the host site for one of college football’s most long-for events, it is now home to a new, ambitious Master of Business Administration program, thanks to a collaboration between Alabama A&M University’s College of Business and Public Affairs and a local community college.

Lawson State will serve as the AAMU MBA program’s off-site location.  The campus already houses AAMU@LSCC, the official off-site campus for other AAMU undergraduate and graduate programs currently offered on weekends and evenings.

Now, coming in Fall 2017, the MBA program will offer enterprising residents in the metropolitan Birmingham area an opportunity to achieve a career-boosting degree with the completion of only 11 comprehensive evening courses, all while conveniently attending campus at Lawson State.

“Our supportive and inspirational group of graduate faculty is our biggest strength,” says Dr. Ajeet Jain, a finance professor who is both a graduate of AAMU’s MBA program and serves as its energetic coordinator.  Moreover, a waiver of the GMAT/GRE requirement can be carefully considered for those individuals verifying at least 10 years of mid- to upper-level management experience or undergraduate GPAs of 3.0 and above.

Further, Jain says his aim is to also ensure that current and prospective MBA program students at the Lawson State site have “exceptional customer service” so that they will evolve into “brand ambassadors” for the program.  The Lawson State program, Jain believes, is only the catalyst for a look into the feasibility, ultimately, of an executive and online MBA program.
