AAMU's state-of-the-art Telecommunications Center has expanded the traditional classroom.  Multi-disciplinary distance learning classes involve video conferences, computer chat sessions, and e-mail communications with other universities.

  • Half of AAMU's students live on campus.  Residence halls also include vibrant Living Learning Centers that host movies, concerts, art exhibits, and self-improvement and motivational seminars.
  • The University's five academic areas offer the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts in more than 70 disciplines, among them - Art, Chemistry, Math, and Foreign Languages.

  • AAMU is home to the oldest baccalaureate degree program in computer science in the state of Alabama.

Lucky for us, The University Players Mainstage, the performing drama organization on campus, tends to make a big production out of things.  Local audiences went peanuts over ``You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."

Inter-collegiate athletics of AAMU is internationally recognized. Our tenacious Bulldogs have brought national championships to the University in several sports.

  • Challenging, yes.  But climbing The Hill is not a go-it-alone proposition.  Survival Skills for University Life, a required freshman course, gives you the information and structured activities we consider vital to your success.

  • Our search for new knowledge never ends: AAMU is conducting research in artificial intelligence, early intervention strategies in special education, genetics, human nutrition, crystal growth, rural development...

With a rolling 2,000 acre campus to roam, 5,500 students to befriend, and student events too numerous to count, you might spend your free moments enjoying a beautiful sunset, special friends, or a special dinner with filmmaker Spike Lee.
