The Federal Work Study Program provides jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing you to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to your course of study.
How much will I be paid?
On campus Federal Work Study students make $7.00 per hour. Off campus Federal Work Study students make $10.00 per hour. Your total Federal Work-Study award depends on when you apply, your level of need, and the funding level.
When will I be paid?
Federal Work Study Students are paid every two weeks.
Can I work as many hours as I want?
No! The University allows Federal Work Study students to work 15 hours per week and the amount you earn can't exceed your Federal Work-Study award. When assigning work hours, your employer will consider your class schedule and your academic progress.
How do I obtain my job assignment?
Obtain a Federal Work-Study Authorization Form from the AAMU Office of Student Financial Aid during Fall/Spring (2014-2015) Registration. You must have been awarded Federal Work-Study in order to receive this form.
Decide whether you wish to work on campus or off campus. You would then take the Federal Work-Study Authorization Form with you when you interview for the positions that interest you.
When you are hired bring the form back to the Financial Aid Office and complete your personnel paperwork.
I am interested in Federal Work-Study, but I was not awarded - what can I do?
Unfortunately, due to limited funds we can not award all of the University's students Federal Work Study.
