Campus safety is a significant aspect of the residential-learning experience. The Department of Public Safety is a full-service police department that is open to the campus community year round, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our police officers are trained and certified with full law enforcement powers.
Public Safety officers are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure living, learning, and working environment, facility security, property protection, emergency planning and response, efficient traffic flow, and parking-regulations enforcement. We work to ensure compliance with college regulations and Alabama laws.
Successful prevention of crime is possible only with community involvement. Public Safety conducts crime prevention seminars at the residential halls for all students, groups, and other campus organizations and strives to develop and maintain positive communications and mutual understanding and trust between students and Public Safety.
