The OIP provides and supports international students and scholars by serving as information and advising resource and coordinating special programs. The Office of International Programs provides assistance with immigration counseling and maintaining legal status in the United States. Support ServicesThe OIP conducts visa and immigration assistance and orientation to academic and social life in the United States. The OIP also facilitates the integration of international students and scholars into the AAMU community and serves as an advocate for international students, staff, and scholars. General ServicesThe OIP provides numerous services and activities to assist international students, staff, and faculty with a myriad of needs. We maintain information on international student financial aid sources and publish a newsletter once each semester.Cultural Adjustment ProgrammingThe Office of International Programs provides guidance and support to ease the adjustment of life in a new country. This guidance begins with a specialized orientation program for new international students. Orientation is offered at the beginning of each semester. Students are acclimated to U. S. life and culture while learning about the academic environment at Alabama A&M University. Individual orientation sessions are provided to international faculty and staff upon their arrival to the University.Intercultural ProgramsOIP sponosrs and participates in many activities to increase awareness of the international and intercultural nature of Alabama A&M University. These activities inlcude International Education Week, World Fest, and activities of regional student organizations.The Office of International Programs does not handle nor make admissions decisions. The OIP does not evaluate foreign transcripts, credentials, credits, or funding decisions. Information about the admissions application process may be accessed with the Office of Admissions (for undergraduate students) or the Graduate School (for graduate students).
