Student Advising
Biology Faculty members serve as academic advisers of all biology majors. Typically students are assigned to advisors who will advise them until their completion of the major in biology. Students who seek to change advisors may do so through the Chair of the Department.

Each student must consult with their advisor at the beginning of each semester to discuss course schedules, academic progress, junior audits and senior records checks, career objective etc.  Transfer students must consult their assigned advisors to officially substitute courses earned from other accredited institutions. Substitution forms should be completed by the end of the transfer student’s first semester at AAMU.

Student Organizations
The biology program sponsors three student organizations:

  1. Pre-Professional Club: open to any student interested in biology, activities involve health expos and career information seminars.

  2. Beta Kappa Chi: Open to all junior science majors with an academic average of 3.0 or better. This organization emphasizes undergraduate research

  3. MAPS (SNMA): Open to all biology students seriously interested in attending medical school or graduate schools.
