The Alabama A&M University Writing Center

The AAMU Writing Center is an on campus, student-centered facility designed to encourage peer interaction, establish writing as a multi-disciplinary goal, and  support the idea that writing enhances learning. The mission of the AAMU Writing Center is to assist students in any stage of the writing process through peer-to-peer consultations, small group instruction, and workshops. Through these methods, the AAMU Writing Center strives to create an academic community of strong and confident writers at Alabama A&M University.

The AAMU Writing center is a free service for AAMU students, faculty, and staff. Our writing consultants are friendly undergraduate students from a variety of academic disciplines who are specially trained in teaching writing.

The AAMU Writing Center offers support for your writing, whether it is assigned writing or a project. Our writing consultants are knowledgeable about writing strategies that can help enhance your work by discussing the nature of the writing task, where you are in your writing process, and how you might develop your work. The AAMU Writing Center can also help you access resources with which you can sharpen your skills and abilities as a writer.

The AAMU Writing Center is open from 8-5 pm Monday through Friday.

NOTE: The AAMU Writing Center works with all students in assisting them but does not proofread, edit, or complete written assignments. As part of a teaching university and academic arena, the AAMU Writing Center will show students how to become better writers, proofreaders, editors, and revisionists on their own merits via one-on-one consultations and utilization of the AAMU Writing Center’s resources.  With an open mind and willingness to work hard, the sky has no limits for anyone who walks through the glass doors of the AAMU Writing Center!
