The Alabama A&M University Writing Center

           The mission of the Alabama A&M University (AAMU) Writing Center is to provide a conducive atmosphere that encourages writers across the university to become empowered as they not only learn to write but write to learn using innovative techniques as well as proven rubrics and technologies.

Walking through the doors of the AAMU Writing Center—

The goal is to help YOU become a better writer.  If you desire a second opinion (a second set of eyes) for developing ideas or obtaining advice on editing, the AAMU Writing Center is the place to go.  Providing you with an initial consultation and suggestions to help you foster improved critical thinking skills about your own writing, the AAMU Writing Center will help you to learn how to make good decisions about your work.  Trained Center consultants will help you reach your goals to becoming a better writer.

Operating hours vary each semester. For this semester, the Writing Center is open for business Monday through Friday.  On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, excluding university closings and holidays, hours are typically from 8am - 5pm.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays, hours of operation are from 10-5pm.  Tutorials, workshops, and class sessions are made available from 9am - 5pm, Monday through Thursday.  All other times are made available by special request only. 

 

NOTE: The AAMU Writing Center works with all students in assisting them but does not proofread, edit, or complete written assignments. As part of a teaching university and academic arena, the AAMU Writing Center will show students how to become better writers, proofreaders, editors, and revisionists on their own merits via one-on-one consultations and utilization of the AAMU Writing Center’s resources.  With an open mind and willingness to work hard, the sky has no limits for anyone who walks through the glass doors of the AAMU Writing Center!​​​​​​​​
