The Performing Arts program offers a B.M. in Music with four possible concentrations: Music Education which can be instrumental or choral; Business, Performance and Piano Pedagogy. 

The concentration in Music Education offers a curriculum serves those students who want desire a P-12 teaching career in voice or any instrument. Completion of the curriculum leads to Class B Certification and the B.M. degree.

The concentration in Business serves those students who pursue varied aspects of producing and marketing music. 

Music with a concentration in Performance serves those music majors who wish to perfect their musical talent to the highest level in one applied area, (voice or an instrument). 

The concentration in Piano Pedagogy serves those students who have piano talent and desire to have their own private studio and/or perform as a soloist or accompanist. Whatever the concentration, the Music Program wants each major to become a solid musician in performance, music history and music theory.

Music at Alabama A&M University continues to be one of the institution’s greatest traditions and public relations feature.  With a distinguished and qualified faculty, the music program continues to produce outstanding marching and concert bands a concert choir that has regional and national prominence. Distinguished American musicians have served as chairmen over the years: William Grant Still, William C. Handy, James H. Wilson, Dr. Henry Bradford, Jr., Richard F. Tucker and the present chairman Dr. Horace R. Carney, Jr.

The Music Program is housed in the Morrison Fine Arts building, located on the southern part of the campus.  It has a state of the art Music Study Center (MSC) with listening and computer stations, piano lab, and practice modules.  There are also rehearsal rooms for band, choir, strings as well as four large classrooms for music instruction.
