About Career Closet

The Career Development Services Center (CDS) is committed to helping all students at Alabama A&M University prepare for professional success.  In the 2016/2017 academic year, CDS hosted 53 employer-related events, in addition to a fall and spring career fair, which were collectively attended by more than 150 employers.  Employers that visit our campus extend offers to our students for internships, co-ops and career opportunities.

With the number of employers recruiting students at Alabama A&M University steadily on the rise, it is imperative that our students make a positive first impression. Many of our students are first-generation enrollees, who, unfortunately, do not own a business suit, a blazer, or even a tie, to pair with their solid academic preparation.

To meet this need, Career Development Services is partnering with First Lady Abbiegail Hugine and the Bulldog Pride Committee to launch the Career Closet.  Donations to the closet will help CDS ensure that not one AAMU student who is motivated to pursue an internship, co-op or career opportunity is disregarded by employers because of a lack of professional attire. Therefore, we are asking you to donate the following new--or clean, gently worn--professional garments:

Women’s Apparel:

·         Business Suits

·         Separates: Skirts, Blazers, Dresses and Slacks

·         Tops: Dress Blouses and Button Up Shirts

·         Shoes and Accessories: Pumps (1-3” heels), Belts, Jewelry, Hosiery (new)

Men’s Apparel:

·         Business Suits

·         Separates: Suit Jackets and Dress Pants

·         Tops: Long Sleeve Dress Shirts

·         Shoes and Accessories: Dress Shoes, Ties, Belts, and Dress/Trouser Socks

Our goal is to officially open the Career Closet on February 12, 2018.  Please direct in-person and mailed donations to:
