The mission of the Academic Advising Center is to serve as one of the support services for University College. The New Student Orientation Program is one component of the Academic Advising Center's commitment to fulfilling the University College mission. Through Student Orientation And Registration, (SOAR), Operation Transition and the ORI 101: Survival Skills for University Life course, students are provided with opportunities to explore their career options and become familiar with the requirements for their chosen majors as well as the general policies of the university. Four full-time professional advisors assist students with course selections and scheduling. In addition to teaching the ORI 101 classes, the advisors monitor and maintain student records and prepare them for transfer to the five degree-granting schools.
