Rather G. Brown Scholarship - Huntsville Madison County Alumni Chapter

The Dr. Rather G. Brown Scholarship is based primarily on scholarship merit and leadership potential.   The Scholarship is granted in the amount of $1,500 toward the Fall semester 2016 expenses. All required application materials must be postmarked by March 20, 2016.


To be eligible the following applies to all applicants
  • Must be graduating high school senior enrolled in a Madison County, Madison City, Huntsville City School, or parochial and private institution in Madison County or a current AAMU undergraduate student who is a Madison County resident and in good standing.
  • Must provide a complete scholarship packet postmarked by March 20, 2016.
        • Packets received after the deadline will not be considered.
        • Incomplete packets will not be considered
  • Must have an ACT score of 18 or above
  • Current AAMU undergraduate students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 and have completed 15 semester credit hours.

Award Criteria

Scholarship recipients will be notified by April 15, 2016 and recognized prior to the end of the 2015-2016 school year.  Upon the verification of enrollment and registration at Alabama A&M University, the scholarship will be award in the month of September 2016.  Failure to provide verification of enrollment and  registration will result in forfeiture of the scholarship.

Scholarship Application Procedures

  • Submit completed scholarship application via mail postmarked by March 20, 2016
  • Submit ACT scores verified by school counselor (unofficial copy of acceptable).
  • Request an official copy of your latest high school or college transcript to be sent to the alumni chapter address below postmarked by March 20,2016
  • Submit letters of recommendation via  mail and postmarked by March 20, 2016
