Councill Hall is named for our legendary founder, William Hooper Councill. Born into slavery in 1848, President Councill developed a thirst for knowledge. Although rare for a colored man to obtain an education, he overcame this obstacle to become a teacher, politician, and college founder.
Councill Hall is a traditional three story, air-conditioned residence hall for women. It has 53 rooms, which houses freshmen in single and double occupancy rooms. The residence hall is equipped with a student lounge, laundry facilities, small computer lab, community bathrooms with individual shower stalls, wireless internet, and telephone services. Keeping with the traditional residence hall arrangement, all rooms are accessible off a main enclosed corridor.
