The Student Government Association is the official representative of all undergraduate students attending Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. The purpose of the Student Government Association is to stimulate and develop democracy amongst students, and to provide a path of communication to promote student interest. The SGA shall represent the student body whenever requested in its relationship with other organizations, alumni, faculty, staff, and administration.
AAMU provides a variety of opportunities for students to gain experience in self govermnent. The SGA is the overall student governing body and is responsible for many of the activities and programs designed and executed by students for students.
To ensure the our purpose, the SGA must take on the following responsibilities:
- Empower individuals to serve and to inspire others for the betterment of the community.
- Create a welcoming environment that celebrates individual differences within a context mutual respect.
- Challenge individuals to uphold shared expectations and recognize how their decisions impact others.
