Welcome to the Hill!

Miss Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (Miss AAMU) is the official student hostess and ambassador for the University. She is known to be a role model for her fellow peers and is looked upon as a University spokeswoman. Miss AAMU is expected to be of high moral conduct, exhibit school pride, and spirit.

The role of Miss Alabama A&M University includes many duties and responsibilities. It is necessary that she is well versed, extremely comfortable communicating and working cooperatively with University officials and the surrounding community. 

Aliyah Sharnae Riley, Miss AAMU


Miss AAMU: Aliyah Sharnae Riley

Aliyah Sharnae Riley is a native of Columbus, GA. She is the daughter of Mrs. Sonjia Riley-Roberts and Mr. Reginald Bankston and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Trayvick and Mr. and Mrs. James Bankston. She graduated with honors, ranking in the top 10 percent of her class from Central High School in Phenix City, Al where she made a name for herself academically and civically. She was the Cadet Commanding Officer of her NJROTC Unit, the inaugural Naval Vice President of the JROTC State Officers Association, Henry Fleming Scholarship Award Recipient for outstanding achievement in Career Technical education, Eddie Lowe Mayor’s Scholarship Recipient, and a Ledger Enquirer Page One Nominee for Citizenship. She also served as the President of the Beta Club.

Her tenure on “The Hill” began in August of 2014. She is currently a graduating senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a minor in Business Management. She continues to demonstrate her academic prowess and civil responsibility on a collegiate level. She has 3.8 GPA which has earned her several academic recognitions and scholarships. She is the recipient of the National Alumni Association Scholarship and the Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University Merit Scholarship. During the Annual Academic Honors Convocation, she has been awarded the Freshman President’s Award, Silver Presidential Medallion, Bronze Presidential Medallion and has remained on the Dean’s List and Honor Roll. Miss Riley is the primary author of a literary review entitled “Epigenetics Examining Disparities within the African American Community”, under the mentorship of Dr. Daniel Upchurch. Her zeal for excellence and unity pushed her to participate actively in premier organizations on campus. She has served as a University Echo Student Ambassador, is a member of the Honors Program where she has served as Miss Honors, Jesus Matters Christian Student Association where she has served as the Tertiary Leader and Minister of Prayer, the Psychology Club, and Psi Chi Honors Society. Aliyah is the Founder of The Love Show Bible Study and F.I.R.E. which stands for Freely Imparting Righteousness to Everyone, an annual event that spreads the liberty of the Gospel through worship and the arts. In her spare time, she enjoys dunking on people, prayer, worship, dance and poetry.

As Miss Alabama A&M she intends to fulfill her platform, “Embodying a Legacy, Embracing a Future” by promoting self-love, and individuality as well as establishing reverence from within the student  body to the University’s legacy by contributing to its service, poise, and grace. She believes firmly in the University’s Alma Mater and reminds students that they are the children that “as from your rocky heights you view your children’s work throughout the land.”

Miss Alisha Tillman

Alisha is a senior Biology major with a pre-med concentration, from Shelbyville, TN. She is the daughter of Lindon and Ronette Tillman. She is a member of the AAMU Honors Program, University Echoes Student Ambassadors, and Beta Kappa Chi Scientific National Honor Society. She is currently the Vice President of the Minority Association of Premedical Students. Alisha’s goal after graduation is to attend medical school. Her dream is to provide adequate healthcare in under served areas.

Miss Destiny Paige Reeves

Destiny is a junior Family & Consumer Sciences major with a concentration in Fashion Design.  She is the daughter of Ms. Catrina Reeves-Hansberry and Timothy Hansberry. Destiny is from Jackson, MS. She is a member of Ward Modeling Troop, Inc. and Trendsetters Fashion Club. As Miss Junior, she has the aspirations to inspire young girls to chase after their dreams. Her motto is “If you can envision it, it is already done. Just believe and make it happen.”

Carliss is a sophomore Communications Media major with a minor in Computer Science. She is the daughter of Mrs. Vairy Spencer and Mr. Carlos Spencer. She is from Huntsville, Alabama. Her platform “Here to Serve, Here to Give” emphasizes the importance of service within the community. She is a member of the Honors Program. Her desire is to become a news anchor and ultimately an actress.

Tyra is a Freshman Construction Management major and Engineering minor from Union Springs, AL.  She is the daughter of Crystal Hough and Thaddeus Harris. Tyra will use her platform, Let’s Get Grand,” to work with incoming students, preparing them for a “New Direction.”  She plans to attend Graduate School in the future for a career in Architecture Design.
