Qualifications and criteria for becoming a member of Alpha Epsilon Lambda (Alpha Rho Chapter) at Alabama A & M University.
Chapter Qualifications
Must be in graduate school at AAMU for one semester (15 semester hours and above) AND MUST BE DEGREE SEEKING WITH REGULAR ADMISSION
Maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 or above at AAMU (Academic Attestation)
Be nominated by a current member or a faculty advisor
Must write a professional essay of not less than 500 words on professionalism and excellence in education (Leadership Attestation)
Have a proven community service record (Leadership Attestation)
Must not have a disciplinary problem or a criminal record
Submit an application with an application fee of $30.00
$15 National Fee, $30 Chapter dues
National Qualifications
Minimum requirements for membership in Alpha Epsilon Lambda include: 1) completion of at least 12 credit hours as a degree-seeking student in a graduate program, 2) a grade point average placing the student in the top 35% of campus graduate students, and 3) a record of leadership and service to graduate students or graduate student organizations.
Note that initiation into the society will occur once a year in the Fall
