Huntsville, Ala. ---- With experience gained from serving at four institutions of higher education, a new staffer at Alabama A&M University has assumed the important post of Registrar.
Brenda K. Williams earned B.A. and M.A. degrees from Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge, La. Her career slate includes stints at Southern
University at New Orleans, where she facilitated the implementation of Web-based registration and increased efficiency and effectiveness of student record keeping through information technology. Williams also coordinated all facets of undergraduate admissions during her term at Louisiana State University.
During her five-year period at her alma mater from 2003-2008, Williams put in place a cohesive policies and procedures manual for the grading process, a security system and executed internal audits for regulatory compliance and operational accuracy. While at the 9,000-student Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock, Ark., the Registrar utilized technology to boost efficiency, automate transcript request and distribution processes, and to obtain enrollment data.
Williams lists among her core competencies budgeting administration, cost control and reduction, forecasting and strategic planning, process improvement, regulatory compliance, and technology integration. She is professionally affiliated with state, regional and national organizations serving college registrars and admissions officers.
