AAMU Student Housing Update

Bookmark and Share

Huntsville, Ala. ---- In preparation for Fall 2017, Alabama A&M University implemented a new student housing management system.  Adirondack Solutions, an interactive, user friendly system, provides an opportunity for students to apply for housing, request a specific hall/room, request a roommate based on preferences such as sleep pattern, study habits, etc.,  and communicate directly with housing personnel. Also, Adirondack provides student housing personnel with real-time updates on housing availability.

The University has identified 2700 beds for new and returning students.  Students requesting housing must meet the following criteria:

·         Payment of applicable housing fee(s) – $250 deposit and/or $100

application fee;application fee;

·         2017-2018 FAFSA or valid payment method on file; and

·         Registered for the Fall 2017 Semester

Although the University has allotted 1,525 beds for incoming freshmen, and 1,175 beds for upperclassmen, housing is provided on a first-come, first-serve basis, says Karla Miller, interim director of housing at AAMU. The priority deadline for returning students to receive housing for Fall 2017 was May 5, 2017, and June 19, 2017 is the priority deadline for incoming freshmen.    While the University desires to provide students an opportunity to live on campus, assignments cannot be made in excess of the maximum beds available.

Unlike previous years, Alabama A&M University will not provide temporary/short-term accommodations once maximum capacity has been reached.  When capacity is reached, students are asked to monitor Housing’s website for availability updates as vacancies will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
