Dangerous neighborhoods, terrible public education systems and corrupt politicians were a huge part of August Lee's childhood while growing up in

The Visual, Performing and Communication Art Gallery is open for more art events to showcase visual arts in the future from Huntsville, surrounding areas and abroad.  The Gallery is located in the R.D. Morrison Fine Arts Building at Alabama A&M University and is open daily from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.  For more information, contact (256) 372-4800.

Washington, D.C.  It almost seemed inevitable that Lee would become an artist who focuses predominantly on social commentary and history.

At 20 years old, Lee is extremely passionate about making people think through his art, but he also enjoys a good soulful instrumental and an article about little known historical and scientific facts.  He dreams of one day having his own satirical comic strip and living in peace with wild animals in his backyard.

The "Under the Wing" art exhibit at AAMU's Gallery of Art is Lee's first opportunity to physically display his art to the world.  The exhibit features several mediums, including acrylic paintings, digital images and drawings all dedicated to his eternal love for America.
