Drum Corps International (DCI) has partnered with Alabama A&M University to host a major drum corps competition on “The Hill” Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Louis Crews Stadium.
The activity further opens the campus to the Huntsville community and legions of drum corps fans and potential students.
According to Dana Gillis, director of compliance for athletics at AAMU, the event marks “the first time that DCI has partnered with a historically black college or university to host one of its premier events.”
A first-year show typically attracts around 3,000 fans, notes Gillis, but in subsequent years the fan base for an established event could expand to 10,000 or more.
