Dear AAMU Supporters and Fans:
I am pleased to inform you that all football games for the 2012 season will be played at the Louis Crews Stadium. Today, Mr. Bryan Hicks announced at a press conference that Saturday’s game will not be relocated. There are still a few items to be completed, but the field is ready for intercollegiate competition. Hellas Construction Company is to be commended for working with the university to complete the installation in record time. They not only cut the normal installation time in half, but also completed the project ahead of the contracted and projected completion date of September 21, 2012. For the University, this is certainly a plus and more than offsets the incentive included in the contract for early delivery. This announcement is welcomed news to our fans and we appreciate their understanding of the perceived inconvenience that would have resulted from the relocation of the game. Our fans can now, not only enjoy the game in familiar surroundings, but also view first-hand the enhanced stadium. The turf is a stunning addition to our stadium and we are proud of the fact that we are the first university in the SWAC to have turf installed.
The completion of the project ahead of schedule not only eliminated the need to relocate the game, but it eliminated the projected loss athletic revenue as well. The estimated loss revenue per game for suite boxes, tailgating and rental fee for the alternate location is approximately $41,065 per game.
The completion of the installation of the turf and the two victories thus far hopefully represents the precursor of a great season for us. Go Bulldogs.
