An Alabama A&M University staff member has won a “fan favorites” contest sponsored by the Gospel Music Channel (GMC TV).
Acclaimed gospel singer Vetrea Slack Ruffin, who serves as a secretary in the 
Department of Reading, Elementary, Early Childhood and Special Education, has won the national station’s “Most Powerful Voices 2012 Summer Fan Favorites Contest” in the Praise and Worship Category. The competition began July 23 and concluded September 3.
Ruffin is the matriarch behind Vetrea Slack Ruffin and The Ruffin Family, the Huntsville, Ala., mother-daughter trio known for bringing messages of deliverance, healing and freedom.
