Director Selected for Leadership Program

The director of Alabama A&M University’s Student Health and Wellness Center will join an important leadership team.  


Daniel Kasambira has been selected to Leadership Class 27 of Leadership Huntsville/Madison County.  The flagship, 10-month program stresses learning Kasambira (4).JPG
through experience and offers in-depth knowledge to give participants the tools and a network to better serve the community.  


During the past 25 plus years, Leadership has developed programs to meet the growing needs and levels of engagement in the community, and currently offers programs beginning as early as ninth grade. 


Prior to joining AAMU, Kasambira served as a relationship manager at the United Way of Central Alabama from 2007-10, managing divisions that raised over $20 million in contributions over this time period.  He was executive director of three YMCAs during his career in the non-profit sector, and his budget responsibilities ranged from $800,000 to $4.4 million with membership bases exceeding 12,000 members. 


Kasambira also maintains active involvement in several community service organizations. He is currently the board president of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Alabama, PTA treasurer at Farley Elementary School and hospitality committee chair at Farley Community Church.  He recently served as the 2012 United Way of Madison County Pacesetter Campaign chair.  Previously, he served as chair of the Charitable Outreach Committee for the BBVA Compass Bowl (formerly the PapaJohn’ Bowl) that annual distributes over 3,000 tickets complimentary tickets to various non-profit and community organizations. 


The Leadership program has a very specific vision: to build a community of effective and unified leaders characterized by respect, trust and diversity, to enhance the future growth and prosperity of the Tennessee Valley. 


Through its 2,000+ program graduates, Leadership Huntsville/Madison County provides a continuing pipeline of educated and dedicated leaders who function as agents of change, which contributes to the continued growth and prosperity of our community and region.
