Huntsville, Ala. ---- Pursuant to the provisions of Section 16-49-20 of the Code of Alabama, the nominating committee established by that statute to make nominations to the Governor for positions to be filled on the Board of Trustees of Alabama A&M University (the "Nominating Committee") met on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, and finalized its nominations for three of the four positions which are currently eligible for appointment to the Board. The Nominating Committee had previously received nominations for each of the open positions on the Alabama A&M Board, and formally evaluated and acted on these nominations during the meeting. The Nominating Committee completed its work during the January 25th meeting with respect to the following positions on the Board and unanimously voted to forward the following names to the Governor in nomination for these positions:
Second Congressional District, as constituted on Sept. 5, 1975
Velma Tribue
Stafford Thompson
Third Congressional District, as constituted on Sept. 5, 1975
Jerome Green
Clyde Marsh
Charles Stinson
At-Large Position held by Lucien Blankenship
Lucien Blankenship
Bernice Richardson
Fred Thompson
These names have been sent to the Governor on behalf of the Nominating Committee.
The Nominating Committee is continuing its work with respect to finalizing nominations for the At-Large position formerly held by Raymond Burse and expects to complete its work and forward nominations to the Governor prior to the time specified by the statute. In this regard, the Nominating Committee has narrowed the field of nominees down from seventeen (17) to five (5) remaining candidates to fill the three final nominee slots for this position. The five remaining candidates for this At-Large position are:
