Intrusive Academic and Probation Services (IAPS)
Mission
The mission of the Intrusive Academic and Probation Services (IAPS) unit is to increase student achievement and persistence by providing specialized intrusive academic assistance to all students experiencing academic difficulty and those on academic and/or financial aid warning and probation. IAPS is a one-stop shop for academic assistance, student advocacy, and information about university and community resources.
- Provide intrusive academic assistance to students on academic and/or financial aid warning and probation, and those experiencing academic difficulty.
- Provide intrusive, proactive academic support services to first-year students enrolled in transitional courses.
- Maintain the ORAS comprehensive computerized academic database (AccuTrack) for all students served.
- Provide timely feedback and assistance in face-to-face service visits, telephone and/or email.
- Provide timely reports on students served and services provided to appropriate offices, i.e., Title III, Office of Financial Aid, Academic Affairs, University College and ORAS.
- Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and other university units to provide intrusive academic assistance and social support to meet students’ needs.
- Develop and conduct a series of annual Learning Strategies Workshops to increase student learning and retention.
