Changing Lanes Mentoring Program
Overview
Mission: To foster academic and professional excellence among first year and upper division students
The Changing Lanes Mentoring Program is designed to:
- Assist freshmen in making a successful academic and social adjustment to Alabama A&M University;
- Pair outstanding sophomores, juniors and seniors with
freshman and transfer students;
- Encourage early contact with faculty and staff;
- Provide sophomore, junior, and seniors with advice on professional development, graduate school preparation, research and career exploration; and
- Assist students in planning and fulfilling their educational and professional goals.
The Mentoring Strategy:
- Incoming freshmen will be paired randomly with outstanding sophomores, juniors and seniors in their major who are committed to the Alabama A&M University experience and are involved in activities and organizations on campus;
- Sophomores, juniors and seniors will be paired with faculty and staff within their respective majors; and
- Juniors and seniors will be paired with a professional mentor in their field of study.
