Testing Services Center

The Testing Services Center is located in Suite 200 of Buchanan Hall. Our mailing address is P.O. Box 549, Normal, AL 35762. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

 

General Education Development (GED)

Students must pre-register to take the GED. Pre-registration begins the third Thursday of each month from 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. in the Learning Resources Center on the campus of AAMU. Individuals who are late or unable to attend the entire registration are asked to call to schedule a registration appointment.

GED Registration Procedures

The cost for the entire test is $50.00. If you are retesting, the fee is $10.00 per re-test.

The Testing Services Center accepts cash, money orders and certificated check ONLY. Once fees have been paid, Testing Services offers no refund but we will gladly reschedule you. Reschedules must be made within sixty days of the registration date.

 

 All candidates for the exam must bring:

  • a government issued ID,
  • proof of Alabama residency
  • and their social security card.

Additionally, students 16 or 17 years old must bring:

·    a notarized letter from their parents or guardian giving them permission to complete the assessment

·    and the official withdrawal slip from the last high school attended or a letter from the superintendent.

GED Score Reports

Each candidate who completes the GED is mailed one free copy of his/her results to the address given at the time of registration. Duplicate copies are $10.00. In order to receive a duplicate copy of your GED scores, you must either:

  • mail a request containing your social security number,
  • your name,
  •  a statement of request,
  • your original signature,
  • a copy of your government issued ID
  • and a $10.00 money order to:

 PO Box 549, Normal, AL 35762.                              

 

OR

 

Come into the office with your government issued ID and $10.00 to request a copy.

 

 

Law School Admission Test (LSAT)-2

Alabama A&M University administers the LSAT on each of the national testing dates in TG Parker Annex. The cost of the LSAT is $118.00. The LSAT dates in 2008-2009 are posted on the LSAT website:

American College

Test (ACT)

Alabama A&M University offers the ACT on each of the national testing dates. You must register to complete the exam through ACT. The cost for the general test is $29.00. The cost for the ACT plus writing is $43.00. The ACT will be given on the following dates in 2008-2009.

Residual ACT

Individuals who are planning to attend AAMU and have missed a national exam for the ACT are permitted to complete the Residual ACT on the AAMU campus. Residual scores, however, can only be used for admission to Alabama A&M University. The cost of the residual ACT is $60.00.

College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)

CLEP is a computer-based test that provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate college level achievement through a program of exams in undergraduate college courses.

To determine whether or not the CLEP exam can be used as an alternate to course completion, please contact your academic advisor. The CLEP exam is $80.00 and is administered by appointment only in 200 Buchanan Hall. To schedule a CLEP appointment, please contact the Testing Services Center at (256) 372-5653.

Alabama Prospective Teacher Testing Program  

Alabama A&M University offers the APTTP on each of the national testing dates. Students interested in the APTTP must register through ACT to complete the exam. The cost of the entire exam is $80.00. Re-test fees vary. A complete listing of fees can be found in the APTTP registration booklet or on-line. The APTTP will be given on the following date in 2008-2009:

GRE, GMAT, PRAXIS, and TOEFL

Other testing information is located in the Testing Services Office. Registration packets for the : GMAT, GRE, and TOEFL can be obtained in outside the main door of the Testing Services Center . These tests are now available only in the computer-based format.  The closest test center administering these tests is the Prometric Testing Center located in Decatur, Alabama.  Individuals who wish to make an appointment may contact the Prometric Center at (256) 350-8324 or they may contact the Educational Testing Service at www.ets.org. for a complete listing of testing locales.

 

PRAXIS

AAMU Testing Services Center is pleased to announce the administration of the PRAXIS assessment on our campus. The cost of each PRAXIS exam varies by subject. For more information on the cost of the exams or to pick-up a registration packet, please visit the TSC office. AAMU will administer the PRAXIS on the following dates:
