Tournament Dedication
In Honor of Dr. Richard D. Morrison
The Alabama A&M University Business and Indus-try Cluster and the planners of the Annual Homecoming Scholarship Golf Tournament are pleased to honor Dr. Richard D. Morrison through this coveted event. A former AAMU president and long-time golf enthusiast, Dr. Morrison has long appreciated the game, and many of the early developments and growth of the sport at AAMU occurred under his administration.
Morrison served as AAMU’s fifth president, assuming the position on March 1, 1962. Morrison saw the erection of more than a dozen major buildings. The construction of the L. R. Patton Building in 1971marked the first time that AAMU had an administration building to serve as the heart of its busy hillside cam-pus.
Other building projects under the Morrison administration include the Walter T. Gravitt Faculty Apartments; Robert B. Prentice Hall for dining; Buchanan Hall, a women’s residence hall; J. F. Drake Memorial Learning Resources Center; house for home management training; the George W. Carver Multi-Purpose Complex; Morris Hall, residence hall for men; Terry Hall, residence hall for women; and the Elmore Health Science Complex.
