WHAT? The W. H. Councill Challenge Campaign supports scholarships at Alabama A&M University.
WHY? Over a decade ago, AAMU embarked upon an initiative to enrich its historic tradition of excellence in teaching, research and public service. Recognizing the need to substantially under gird the resources provided by the uncertainty of State appropriations, the University launched the Councill Challenge. The initially 15-year, $50 million campaign became the “key” through which the University unlocked the door to the vast legacy of AAMU’s founding father, Dr. William Hooper Councill. Its aim was to ensure a well-sustained and vibrant institution that would continue to serve as a beacon of hope and aspiration.
