Nobel Laureate Riccardo Giacconi to Give Tenth Annual Memorial Lecture

The Tenth Putcha Venkateswarlu Annual Memorial Lecture, will be given by Nobel Riccardo Giacconi, Associated Universities, Inc., USA, Friday, October 19 at 3 P.M. in the Dawson Auditorium. The title of the talk will be "X-Ray Astronomy." Dr. Giacconi was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2002 for "pioneering contributions to astrophysics, which led to the discovery of cosmic x-ray sources." He shared the Nobel Prize with Dr. Raymond Davis, Jr. from the University of Pennsylvania, USA, and Masatoshi Koshiba from the University of Tokyo, Japan. The talk will be followed by a reception at 5 P.M. in the Clyde Foster Multipurpose Room in the School of Business.
