ANNOUNCEMENTS

Students please note that the professors will not forward your Senior Record Check. You must drop it off and pick it up yourself until it reaches the Dean's Office of your school. Once there, it will be forwarded by the Coordinator of Academic Advising.

Students please use your AAMU Email address for official contact with the University. With this address you can: Perform registration, check to see which classes are open or closed, receive your grades, receive campus-wide announcements, receive financial aid information.

Students please do not forget your student ID number after you graduate! If you ever need to contact AAMU regarding your transcripts, etc., after you have graduated, the first thing you will be asked is what your student ID number was. This is your locator number in AAMU's database. I suggest placing it in your cell phone as a telephone number for safe keeping.

Junior Audit Packet (JAP)
Meet with your advisor at the beginning of your junior year. Compile your JAP which consists of the Graduation Check Sheet and any Transient, Visiting, or Course Substitution Forms. Submit the JAP to Ms. Strother in the Dean's Office. It must be signed-in by the student. Signatures required are the student's and the advisor's.

Senior Record Check (SRC)
At the semester before the semester of graduation, the student should meet with Ms. Strother and submit a fully signed Application for Graduation Form and an updated JAP. These become the Senior Record Check. It must be signed-in by the student.

Graduating Students
Please note that there are four areas that you have to be cleared from before you can graduate (i.e., receive a diploma). These four areas are what are listed when you check the Graduation Clearance Status on the AAMU website. They are:

  • Academics (Registrar’s Office) – The Senior Record Check (SRC) packet is reviewed by the Registrar’s Office and any discrepancies listed on the Graduation Clearance Status page.
  • Career Development Services (CDS) – The MonsterTrak Registration form is completed and a registration fee of $20 paid. An approved resume is placed on MonsterTrak. The Employment Status form is filled out and submitted to CDS. The Employment Status form can be obtained at the Career Development Center. It can be faxed or mailed back. Fax form to 256-372-5689 or mail to Career Development Services, PO Box 997, Normal, AL, 35762.
  • Financial Aid (Office) – An exit counseling interview has to be done in person. If you are not receiving financial aid, still go and verify that you are not receiving aid so they will clear you to graduate.
  • Financial Services (Business Office) – All monetary obligations need to be resolved.

Please note that if you do not intend to participate in Commencement, you must send a request in writing to: Dr. Juarine Stewart, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, Alabama A&M University, PO Box 287, Normal, AL, 35762, explaining why you are unable to participate and that you would like your diploma mailed to you. Make sure to include your name, student ID number and expected graduation semester/year. The Office of Academic Affairs will send a written response back to you approving/rejecting your request. If approval is obtained, please make arrangements with the Registrar’s Office to mail your diploma.
