Youth Motivation Task Force

Program 2011

One of the highlights of the year for students at Alabama A&M University is the visit of the Youth Motivation Task Force.

Knowing where you want to go is far simpler than knowing how to get there. College students are often faced with this dilemma. With so many choices before them, they often need career directions. They want to be assured that there are meaningful jobs out there in the work world and they seek the security of knowing they will be properly prepared.

The college Youth Motivation Task Force (YMTF) program has helped more than five million students become aware of the variety of careers available to them in the private and public sectors.

The program concept is quite simple, but effective. Informed, dedicated, and successful professionals from every walk of life meet with students at predominantly minority colleges and universities. Their aim is to: (1) Enlighten students regarding career opportunities in business, industry, education and government, (2) Discuss how the work world operates, and (3) Share their personal career experiences. These professionals provide students with the direction and insight so necessary in making realistic career decisions.

The 2010 Youth Motivation Task Force Program attracted more than 65 consultants participating in a variety of events over a four-day period. The consultants participated in the YMTFest, a Mentoring Reception, the  Networking Symposium/Deans’ Forum, and two days of classroom visitations.  This year's program also offered a Leadership Forum sponsored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.   Dates for the 2011 conference are April 2-5.

Corporate Sponsors for the 2010 YMTF Conference were:
