Blackboard is a robust learning management system (LMS) used to facilitate teaching and learning for both face-to-face and online instruction. Engagement tools in Blackboard allow for rich discussions, critical thinking, collaboration, and reflection; the possibilities are endless. Outside of instruction, faculty, staff, and students can utilize Blackboard to collaborate with peers and partners of the University.
Blackboard can be used for asynchronous courses or for developing supplementary materials for courses taught over ITV, compressed video or traditional classroom instruction.
Users of Blackboard must have Internet access. Other hardware such as microphones or web cameras may be required depending on the course and will be identified by the instructor. You must also be running an up-to-date web-browser with cookies, Java, Flash, Shockwave, and PDF-viewing enabled, and pop-up blockers disabled. You can check your browser's compatibility here.
Faculty, staff with AAMU accounts, and students with bulldogs.aamu.edu accounts may use Blackboard.
Blackboard is an enterprise system available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week other than scheduled outages for maintenance.
Faculty, staff, and students have access to Blackboard support Mondays thru Fridays, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Call the ITS Service Desk at 256-372-4357 for help, or submit a ticket online at any time.
Faculty may also contact the Center for Instructional Technology team for assistance at 256-372-4542, Monday – Friday, from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
