New Mobile App Underway

Alabama A&M University is participating in GuideSafe™ Testing, a program administered by UAB that provides free COVID-19 testing for every college student attending a public 4-year or 2-year college in the state before entering campus, according to Dr. Gary Crosby, AAMU’s vice president for student affairs.

The ability to test every student within 14 days of entry to Alabama college campuses helps maintain a safe environment and slow the spread of COVID-19.

Testing at AAMU began August 5.  Students must have a negative test within their 14-day window of coming on AAMU's campus, along with completing the appropriate safety training and enrolling in Healthcheck.

According to the Student Health and Counseling Center, AAMU is expected to launch a mandatory statewide app through the GuideSafe program that will provide individualized screening and tracking.  The app also will allow daily health checks and temperature input that give a “passport” and clearance for the day.
