Three AAMU Students to Be Featured in Engineering Mag
BEYA-STEM Conference
Three Alabama A&M University engineering majors were recognized as student leadership winners at the 2022 Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) STEM Conference.
James Hall, Jarvis Prewitt and Chantelle Williams (above) were honored during a series of events held at the event. They will be featured in the spring issue of US Black Engineer and Information Technology Magazine, scheduled for release in June. The magazine is themed around HBCU engineering Dean's and Schools and is dedicated to celebrating diversity and promoting equal opportunity for minorities and women in the fields of engineering, science, and information technology.
A native of Huntsville, Ala., Hall is studying mechanical engineering with a concentration in propulsions and a minor in computer science. Hall received the Student Athlete Award. Jarvis Prewitt, recipient of the Student Academic Award is a mechanical engineering major who hails from Birmingham, Ala., where he developed a passion of math and science. Williams, recipient of the Student Military Leadership Award, is double majoring in mechanical engineering and mathematics. She was attracted to the STEM disciplines by the movie “Hidden Figures.”
The three students were recommended by Dr. Mebougna Drabo and nominated by Professor Terry Miller.
