AAMU M.AL.E. Initiative Scholarship

The AAMU Department of Teacher Education and Leadership in the College of Education, Humanities and Behavioral Sciences created the Males for Alabama Education (M.AL.E.) Initiative Scholarship Program in 2019 to prepare minority men at AAMU to become teachers.

Students can now apply for the scholarship. It provides tuition assistance of up to $10,000 a year (maximum 2 years), financial assistance for books and teacher assessments (Praxis I, Praxis II, edTPA) and mentoring support.

Applicants must be a minority male with a minimum 2.75 GPA (undergraduate) or 3.25 GPA (graduate) and commit to being an educator in Alabama.

For each year of student participation in the M.AL.E. Initiative, participants will be required to provide two (2) years of service within a public Alabama P-12 school.

To apply, call Larry Collier at (256) 372-5520 or e-mail larry.collier@aamu.edu.
