The Director of Development at Alabama A&M University has been appointed to the board of a major higher education organization.
Archie Tucker has joined the board of directors of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District III, where he serves as HBCU Liaison. At AAMU, Tucker is responsible for leading the University’s fund raising efforts.
CASE is one of the world's largest nonprofit educational associations and includes more than 3,600 colleges and universities, primary and secondary, independent and international schools, and nonprofit organizations in 76 countries.
As a leading advocate for education, CASE serves educational institutions and the advancement professionals who work on their behalf in alumni relations, communications, development, marketing and allied areas. CASE District III is the second largest membership district and encompasses the Southeastern United States, comprised of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Prior to his board appointment, Tucker served on the CASE District III Planning Committee and has been a member since 2008.
Tucker has a diverse background in higher education including advancement, workforce development, career services, and admissions and recruitment. Prior to joining AAMU in 2011, Tucker served as the chief development officer at Mississippi Valley State University. He also held posts at Coahoma Community College and Delta State University.
Tucker is affiliated with various civic organizations from local to international, including but not limited to The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Board of Directors, North Alabama Chapter, and AFP International Chapter Support Sub-committee; Committee of 100 Young Professionals; and Leadership Huntsville/Madison County Connect Class 15, to name a few. Additionally, in 2012, Tucker received the Certificate in Fund Raising Management from the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University. He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
