The Alpha Phi Omega (APO) National Service Fraternity Region IV Section 69 Conference was recently hosted at Alabama A&M University by the Pi Epsilon Petitioning Group in the College of Business and Public Affairs facility.
The two-day conference began with a Friday evening registration, get-acquainted activities, and a Fellowship Dinner at The Las Trojas Mexican Grill & Cantina. Conference registrants included Laura Fowler, the Region Director; Matt Cross, the Immediate Past Region Director; and Kim Francis, former Region Director.
Student participants represented Auburn University, The University of West Alabama, Fort Valley State University and host institution AAMU. On Saturday, the conference started with the Section 69 Service Project at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala., where the group participated in its annual Easter Egg and Space Rock Hunt.
The conference continued with plenary sessions on Bylaws (presented by David Self, the Region IV Chief of Staff) and APO Launch (presented by Kim Francis). The Chartering Ceremony for Pi Epsilon, conducted by the Brothers from Auburn University, was a conference highlight. Pi Epsilon subsequently hosted the Conference Banquet in the AAMU Knight Center VIP Room.
The Banquet included a brief keynote address from Alfonso A.A. Smith II, the AAMU campus advisor. The original 1965 Charter and the New 2013 Charter also were presented.
The Alpha Phi Omega Pi Epsilon chapter is grateful for the support of Jasmine Buxton, AAMU director of Student Activities, for her support; Alabama A&M University; the College of Business and Public Affairs; and to ARAMARK Campus Dining, for its hospitality and consideration.
