Professor to Serve Again on State Commission

Huntsville, Ala. ---- A former Alabama A&M University administrator and department chair has been reappointed by the Governor to a seat on a key commission.

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley has reappointed Dr. Delores Ann Price to a five-year term on the prestigious Women’s Commission of Alabama.  She will end her term as a representative of the Eighth Congressional District in January 2018.

PriceDelores1.jpgThe Alabama Women’s Commission was formed in 1971 by the Alabama Legislature as a way to determine effective policy and legislation in areas affecting Alabama’s women.  The commission is composed of three members of the House of Representatives, appointed by the Speaker of the House; two members of the Senate, appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate; and 10 members appointed by the Governor.

Price currently serves as an associate professor of educational leadership and secondary education at AAMU.   The Indiana native also formerly served as interim dean of the College of Education, Humanities and Behavioral Sciences.  She attended Harvard University’s “Principal Academy,” and she earned her doctoral degree from Loyola University in Chicago, Ill.

Dr. Price has served on the AAMU faculty since 2003 and says she plans to initiate a series of forums to address the concerns of women at the local level during her new term.
