The Alabama A&M University Wellness Center will be honored March 24 for its community role in the areas of fitness and athletics by a revered sorority chapter.
The Wellness Center will be recognized Sunday as part of the “Finer Womanhood Program” sponsored by the Delta Omega Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. The event will be held at West Mastin Lake Baptist Church, 4705 Mastin Lake Road, in Huntsville, Ala., beginning at 3 p.m.
In making its selection to award the AAMU Wellness Center, the Sorority considered the Center’s role in the areas of diversity, groundbreaking and pioneering programs, innovation and stewardship.
The Wellness Center prides itself in community outreach and service to its thousands of members, says Daniel Kasambira, who directs the operation. The Wellness Center also recently fielded 27 participants in the 2013 North Alabama Heart Walk at the Westin at Bridge Street Town Centre.
