Alabama A&M University has begun offering coursework leading to the
completion of the coveted Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at the
University of North Alabama, according to a letter of approval from the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Now in their second year, AAMU social work faculty have begun offering 25
percent of the credits in the MSW degree program at the
University of North Alabama, located about 70 miles west in Florence, Ala.
AAMU’s MSW program accepted its first students in 1995. Since that time, the
program has sought to prepare students— especially students
from historically oppressed populations—to become ethical, competent and
advanced-level professionals. Graduates assume
various roles and functions benefitting vulnerable individuals, families,
groups, public and private organizations and institutions, and
rural and urban communities.
