The mission of Academic Advising is to serve as one of the support services for the Office of Retention and Persistence. This unit is dedicated to assisting with the New Student Orientation Program, a commitment to fulfilling the department’s mission. Through Bulldog Days and the First Year Experience courses (ORI 101/102), students are provided with opportunities to explore career options and become familiar with the requirements for their chosen majors as well as the general policies of the University.
Students are our business; our only business. Treat them like precious gems.
Six full-time professional advisors will assist students with course selections and scheduling. In addition to teaching the First Year Experience Courses (ORI 101/102), advisors will monitor and maintain student records and prepare them for transfer to the four degree-granting colleges.
Academic Advising is one of the units that make up the Office of Retention and Persistence.
