The Black Tie Scholarship Gala is Alabama A&M University’s premier annual fundraising event designed to close the financial gap of students aspiring toward higher education. This event was derived by members of the Collaborative University Business and Industry Cluster (CUBIC) in 2001 as a way to raise scholarship dollars and to build institutional awareness while bringing together students, faculty/staff and industry for a common cause. Now in its 14th year, the Gala has raised approximately $2 million dollars since its inception and has impacted the lives of hundreds of students.
The 14th Annual Black Tie Scholarship Gala will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014. This year’s event is slated for the North Hall of Huntsville’s Von Braun Civic Center. The evening begins at 5:15 p.m. with a Silent Auction followed by the Gala at 6:15 p.m. Each year, the Gala provides the University an opportunity to showcase its best and brightest scholarship recipients, while also recognizing individuals and organizations that are leaders in their fields and avid AAMU supporters. At the conclusion of the program, guests are invited to dance the night away to the sounds of Velvet Soul, a live band playing music from the '70s through today. This is sure to be an evening to remember!
