The Mamie Labon Foster Living/Learning Complex was constructed in 1993. The five story air-conditioned residence hall houses 500 upper-class students. Each apartment suite has two bedrooms and living space for four male students, who share a common living room and kitchen area. The facility also houses the east campus cafeteria. The Foster Complex has elevators, study lounges, laundry facilities, a computer lab, wireless internet, and telephone services.
Ms. Mamie Labon Foster was one of the foster female president Pro Tempore of the Alabama A&M University Board of Trustees. Born June 12, 1912, she graduated from Rosedale Elementary School. She completed studies at Alabama A&M Institute High School and received the junior college diploma & B.S. (1946) in elementary education from what was Alabama A&M College. She also received two Masters of Arts Degrees from Teacher College Columbia University in New York City.
