The Alabama Prospective Teacher's Testing Program (APTTP) consists of two assessments: The Basic Skills Assessment and the Praxis II content exam. Candidates must take and pass all sections (reading, writing and mathematics) of the Basic Skills Assessment before formal admission to the Teacher Education Program (TEP).
The Praxis II content exam in the area of certification must be taken and passed before a candidate can be admitted to the internship. Candidates pursuing certification in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Special Education, and Elementary Special Education (Collaborative K-6) must take (but not necessarily pass) the Praxis II content exam BEFORE formal admission to the TEP.
Registration for the Basic Skills Assessment and the Praxis II Content Exam can be done online.
