Current Research
My general research interests involve ecology, silviculture, and management of hardwood forests. Some of my current research projects include:
1. Effects of various degrees of overstory removal and fire frequency on 1) the hardwood regeneration, growth, community structure, and dynamics, and 2) herbaceous species cover, richness, and diversity
2. Changes in tree regeneration potential after Quercus and Carya mortality in a mixed-mesophytic old-growth forest
3. Effect of fire and harvesting on fuel and vegetation response in the Cumberland Plateau region
4. American chestnut (Castanea dentata) Restoration
5. Survival and performance of invasive species after high-intensity directed fire
