Khalid Holmes Biography

Khalid Holmes is A Biology Instructor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. He joined the department in 2023 after teaching in the Alabama Community College System for over a decade and, before that, working at Jackson Laboratory in Sacramento, California. His research experience in industry and work in the community college system has given him unique insight into industry and academia. Khalid's passion for learning and student development shows in his pedagogical style and desire for students to gain a deeper interdisciplinary understanding of the materials presented. While the research he has participated in is broad and diverse, Khalid's primary research interest is in bacterial resistance and the discovery of novel antimicrobials. Khalid's devotion to others makes him a great fit at AAMU, as he truly lives the motto of AAMU, "Service Is Sovereignty."
